Laissez les bon temps rouler (2012 Finish Number 2)

I love the smell of bourbon in the morning - lol

Later on this afternoon the house will be filled with the heavenly aroma of bread pudding baking...mmm!

What a busy week this was!  Valentine's Day on Tuesday, my oldest daughter's birthday on Wednesday, and yesterday I had my little pumpkin for the day because she did not have to go to school.

I picked Miss Sweetie Pie up from school on Tuesday so we could decorate some Valentine's Day cupcakes for her and her Mommy and some birthday cupcakes for her Auntie.  She loves decorating!

Needless to say, the cupcakes were a big hit!

After all that work, it was time for some play.  What a big girl!  She has swinging down to an art.  No more, "Grammy, will you push me?"  I miss those days...

Finally, I snapped a few pictures of the quilt that was finished during Super Bowl.

This Courtyard quilt finished at 50" x 65" so it is a good size quilt for a baby boy.

The back - I found this alphabet fabric on sale too and it was a perfect match.  Don't you love it when that happens?

The quilting was done in a meader pattern at the local quilt shop, and the left over blocks were used in the pieced backing.  I don't like hanging on to left over blocks, but can't bear to throw them away either, so this is a good solution.

I'm continuing to work on the two slide show quilts this weekend, so hopefully I'll have a couple of quilts to drop off to be quilted by next weekend.

So, what are you working on this weekend?

Brrrr...

Well it certainly was a chilly weekend here...goodness!  The high yesterday was 51, and it was in the mid-30's when I left the house this morning.  Compared to other places this doesn't seem unseasonable, but for us it is darn cold.  I didn't snap any pictures of the quilt I finished binding during the Super Bowl...maybe this coming weekend.  I started working on two Slide Show baby quilts on Saturday and the sewing continued for a bit on Sunday.  Looking at the picture below, it doesn't seem like a whole lot was accomplished for having spent all that time cutting and sewing, but that is the way this pattern goes...it's slow going until it's time to put it all together and then it's a snap.

I still have 128 2" x 8" strips to sew onto the pieced strips, but then I'll be ready to put both quilts together.  There's a baby shower for one of the girls on March 3rd, so I need to step on it!

I hope you have a great week :)

The Problem with Saving Money

I went to the local quilt shop today to get my "free fat quarter" - these people are marketing geniuses.  Offering a quilter a free fat quarter is like offering an alcoholic a free drink to get him or her into the bar.  On the way up there I commented that today was the first Saturday of the month which means 30% off the price for end of the bolt fabric.

I think I mentioned that there are two baby girls arriving this spring, so I wanted to pick up some nice bright girly fabrics for two baby quilts.  I walked out of the shop with 22.25 yards of fabric, but I saved $58.00...I recognize that I am powerless over my addiction to fabric....where's the nearest fabriholics anonymous?

The four fabrics at the top of the picture finished off bolts :)

Notice the spool of orange thread on the right side of the picture?  Well, I also picked up a quilt that was ready, so this will be my Super Bowl hand-sewing project.  The binding is all made and machine sewed on, see?

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend - happy quilting!
