Since the Slide Show baby quilts have been delivered, I can now safely share pictures of them :) They were made using the same fabrics, one was bound and backed with pink fabric and the other using purple.
Here is the one bound with pink
and here's the one bound using purple
They were both quilted in a dragonfly pattern using white thread
Hopefully they will provide years of service to the little baby girls when they arrive :)
For time that is... What in the world happened to the weekend? It flew by much too quickly (don't they all?). I don't have any pictures as evidence of productivity, but I did get quite a lot accomplished on Saturday and Sunday. I managed to attach the binding on both Slide Show baby quilts, finish hand sewing it down for one and half of the other. I will post pictures as soon as I get them both done. I hope your weekend was fabulous too :)
As of today, I have worked at the same company for 25 years. I started when I was 27 back in 1985, quit for a couple of years, and returned. It is a weird feeling, and I'm beginning to feel like one of the "old timers" - a lot of the engineers who work with me are younger than my children. The best part of 25 years is another week of vacation accrual each year :) I was planning to celebrate this milestone and St. Patrick's Day downtown today, but instead was on the couch with a grumbly stomach, nothing serious, just had to stick to applesauce and pretzels instead of corned beef, cabbage and green beer.
Last weekend I put the borders on that Quick Trip Around the World quilt for one of my mother's friends. I hope to drop it off to be quilted next weekend. Here's a peek
Definitely not my colors (you can see some of my preferred colors on the bed quilt to the left), but these colors go with the lady's living room. I still have to make the backing.
I hope you all have a wonderful and safe St. Patrick's Day!
Ever since Amanda Jean over at Crazy Mom Quilts posted her Bento Box quilt back in 2009, I've wanted to make one too. I loved her choice of colors and she certainly made a fabulous quilt (and pillows). See?
Utterly gorgeous don't you agree?
Well, I also have wanted to make a quilt using the colors from my Bali Moons table runner. So, I've started poking around for fabrics and found these
I still need a tan/sand, a dark blue and a dark purple to throw into the mix, but I think these will work nicely for the Bento Box pattern.
Tomorrow it's an eye appointment and a trip to the quilt shop to drop off the slide show quilt that was finished last weekend. I'm also hoping they've finished quilting the first slide show quilt so I can get the binding on and deliver it before the baby arrives.
It was an early morning today - I woke up at 5:45...on a Saturday. I was a little annoyed because I've been tired all week and wanted to sleep in. After having a cup of coffee, I figured it was better to look at it as having more hours to sew. I finished the second Slide Show quilt top today - this one is for a baby shower at the end of March.
I also managed to get the backing made and binding for this quilt and the one that is already at the quilter.
It was a perfect day to stay indoors...90 degrees today...really.
