This quilt, which I have named, "A Loveliness of Ladybugs," was my first ever applique project. The pattern was purchased at Underground Quilts at Pike Place Market in Seattle while on vacation with some of my quilting buddies back in 2007 - the pattern is Ladybugs on Parade. If you want to read about one of our madcap quilt shop adventures during the trip, click here.
I collected about fifteen different green batiks for the nine-patch background blocks and this blue fabric with ladybugs for the nine-patch centers
The ladybug bodies were pieced and then the heads were applique'd - here's a collage pictures of the blocks in progress
If you would like to read more about this quilt, related posts are linked under "Applique" on the sidebar to the right.
Once the quilt top and backing were finished, they were sent off to the awesome Angela of QuiltingIsMyTherapy.com who did an amazing job of quilting it. See? There are more close-up pictures of Angela's quilting on her blog - just follow the previous link.
She quilted Grammy "hearts" Emily and Emily's name into the quilt in several places (you might have to click on the picture to see it more clearly)
This quilt will be a present for my sweet granddaughter, Emily, for her fourth birthday in July.
Thank you for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your "site"seeing :)
